UV Ultrablock and Ultraviolet Radiation

UV - The ABC's

Energy from the sun sustains all life on earth. However, some forms of sun energy can be harmful to life. This includes the sun's burning or "ultraviolet" rays - the rays that cause sunburn and skin cancer. We cannot see ultraviolet or "UV" rays, as this form of sun energy is invisible. There are three types of ultraviolet: UV-A, UV-B and UV-C. Ultraviolet Radiation is also divided into three wavelength bands measured in Nanometers (nm ).

UV-A ( 315 - 400nm )
This is the weakest form of Ultraviolet Radiation. It causes skin-aging, wrinkles and can also damage outdoor plastics and paint.

UV-B ( 290 - 315nm )
These rays are stronger than UV-A, and are the most harmful to us and other life forms. UV-B causes skin cancer and cataracts - a permanent clouding of the eye, which reduces vision. Both UV-B and UV-A cause suntans and sunburns. UV-B also reduces the growth of plants, and may affect the health of wildlife and other animals.

UV-C ( 220 - 290 )
These rays are even stronger than UV-B, but fortunately never reach the earth's surface because they are filtered out by the atmosphere. The continued destruction of the Ozone layer can result in UV-C rays reaching the earth, and creating major problems for humans, animals and plant life. Fortunately, there are simple ways to protect oneself from UV-B. Action one takes to protect oneself from UV-B will also safeguard against UV-A (except for certain sunscreens.)

CANSA APPROVED ALNET SHADE CLOTHConcerned About UV Radiation?

Cooltone is the ONLY shade cloth that received the Cancer Association's seal of recognition. Cooltone shade cloth deflects more than 90% of harmful UV rays, making it the ultimate in UV protection.

SHADECLOTH

ALNET shadenet acts as a physical barrier to solar Ultraviolet Radiation and allows only controlled amounts of UVR to pass through the fabric. If the shadenet is rated at 50% blockout then it blocks out 50% (and transmits 50% and has a UPF of 2), if the shadenet is rated at 90% blockout, it blocks out 90% (and transmits 10% and has a UPF of 10), and so on.

Alnet's UV Ultrablock is a superior product that offers you great value for money.

Do not settle for anything less!
